What's the value of the handbags hiding in your closet?

Handbags have surpassed watches and footwear as signature items that instantly tell the world of the owner’s sense of style and fashion. It's estimated that on average women own 13 handbags across 7 different designers.

The general rule of thumb on how long you should keep a designer handbag before you consider selling it is a year. Why? It's still going to be in great condition, and if there is some form of seasonality to its style, you'll be back in that same season as when you bought it. The purchase of "elite designer" handbags can be justified by the steadily increasing resale market where certain luxury handbags like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermes and Gucci actually appreciate in value.

Now ask yourself, which designer handbag do you need to have and which handbag are you ready to consign? You could earn 60-80%* on your designer consignment with us.

Food For Thought

OK so here's the question; do you prefer to buy designer clothes, shoes and handbags or are you just as happy and still get the thrill when you make a high street fashion purchase? Either preference is fine but have you stopped to think about the resale value of that purchase?

Here's why we ask, we realize that buying that Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM tote may hit deep into the bank account at an estimated retail price of $1050; In fact, you may have even been saving in what seems like forever to buy that coveted piece but, is it really that expensive when you can re-sell that sought after bag for upwards of $700? We don't think so. Of course, you may never want to sell it and that is completely fine but it does make that hefty retail price seem not so bad in the event that one day you do sell it. It's kinda like shopping without the guilt.

Sell it, earn some money from it and upgrade that handbag for another Louis or perhaps you've cast your eye on a Chanel bag or HermèsHave you even considered buying a handbag on consignment? It really is becoming the new way to shop. Some bags have never even been used. And no, we're not crazy!

And resale value of designer items doesn't just extend to bags, it reaches clothes and shoes too. New shoes such as Jimmy Choo Cosmic Pumps and Chanel to boot (no pun intended) without the retail price.

Just some food for thought. Happy shopping!

The crazy world of fashion in 2017

So as we say goodbye to 2016, in comes 2017 with the usual commercials for vacations and how to lose weight so you can feel confident wearing that bikini. Same 'o, same 'o. But what, pray tell, does the fashion world have in store for us in 2017. Here's a little snippet:

A name that everyone is telling us to watch out for is Raf Simons. A Belgian fashion designer whose career started in furniture design. He was the creative director at Christian Dior until he resigned in 2015. He will be making his debut at Calvin Klein at New York Fashion Week on February, 10. Simons' has a built-in celebrity draw that will no doubt give his collection heightened attention. So I guess we will just have to wait with baited breath to see what hits the runway.

L.A. Runway Shows are being taken seriously in the Fashion Week circuit. LA has struggled to maintain a traditional fashion week but when Tommy Hilfiger showed his second installment of the Tommy x Gigi label (also launched with Gigi Hadid), L.A.'s luck changed.

According to Vogue, the Holy Bible of fashion, pink is the new camel. All shades of pink are in girls and boys. As can be evidenced from designs by Valentino, Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs, Céline, Givenchy, Bottega and the like. Also, platforms are the new Stan Smiths, phone cases are the new "It" bag and slogans are the new logos. And if that wasn't enough, Crocs - yes we did say Crocs - are the new Birkenstocks.

Plus size is no longer anything to stress over! This is partly thanks to Ashley Graham who launched her own dress collection and has become a mentor for the revamped America's Top Model. She also is on British Vogue's January 2017 front cover. This is a well deserved boost to all women who are size 14 and over!  And while Ashley is doing her bit for us girls, Tim Gunn has stated that he wishes for an all plus-size model's season of Project Runway. We have our fingers crossed Tim!
